Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has responded cryptically to the Union Government's recent decision to deny Special Category Status to Bihar. The Finance Ministry's written reply stated that the case for such status for Bihar does not meet the required criteria.
Kumar, who has been a long-time advocate for this designation, remarked to reporters, "Sab kuch dhire dhire jaan jaiyega" (You will get to know everything in due course), hinting at future developments regarding the issue.
The demand for Special Category Status has been a long-standing issue for Bihar, particularly after the creation of Jharkhand in 2000. The Special Category Status would have provided Bihar with additional central support to boost its economic development. Despite the setback, JDU leaders have indicated that the state could still receive significant aid through a special package.
Opposition leaders, including Lalu Yadav from the RJD, have criticized Kumar for failing to secure the status and have called for his resignation, accusing him of compromising Bihar's interests for political gains.
